i spent all of this afternoon watching old home videos, c/o our more than 10-year old video cam. my dad was sorting them out so he could transfer them to dvds, and i just sat along for a trip down memory lane.10 years ago doesn't seem that long, but it is. i was grade 6 then, jodie was grade 3 and marc grade 1. i was this height at grade 6, and i didn't look all too different back then. me then is basically me now, only now i have longer and permed hair. jodie and marc though were still twins. they were so adorable! they were still little babies then. and to me, they still are. i guess that's the problem; even if they're these grown adolescent boys, they will always be my little baby brothers to me.
there were videos of family reunions, outings and whatnots. kaka and i were just two little girls back then, posing back-to-back with arms crossed, or with our arms around each other. 10 year old kim was still a baby, and now she's this little genius who dances, just like katrina and i did. well, katrina still does. there was a video also of all of us in villa escudero. my family and i are planning to go there sometime soon. the video of us stopped right after i fell down in the man-made waterfalls, right before we discovered how deep the cut on my knee was. i still have that scar on my left knee, dammit.
i also saw videos of my grade 6 self in school. at cheering, in the classroom after cheering, during the family day. i was a cheerdancer back then, and i still have my intrams shorts! our class also danced the el bimbo during the family day. and because we're an all-girl school (let's not contest it, we were at least biologically haha) some of us dressed like boys. and i was one of them.
this is a shout-out to the people i saw in the videos.. i know they'll never see my blog, but maybe by some miracle they do and hopefully, they'll know how much they meant, and mean to me.
jassie aquino - my first best friend in grade 6. the first and only person i've ever had a shouting match with. my partner in el bimbo; she was the girl. one of the three blind mice. she made me feel special when i realized that she was sort-of jealous that i had two other best friends in class. i'm sorry i taught our secret handshake to my other best friend. but thank you. i haven't seen you in two years or so, and i miss you so much. to this day, you still have a special place in my heart. even if you made my theme song, "i believe i can fly.." which was your fault, btw, for making me gulat from behind. ;p
angel garces - hey you, you were in up all this time and we never met up! hahaha. my other best friend in grade 6. thalia. alien freak (hahaha too bastos to post here). i haven't dedicated the song "angel of mine" to anyone else because you told me that that was your song! bleh. hehe. we always used to pick on you because you never got pikon, you just always had this funny reaction. we would burst into song, "it's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now.." we didn't know that was a sensual song back then. hehe. i also stepped on your foot in that infamous incident by the door. "..i believe i can touch the sky.."
ok, too much sentimentality for one day. there's someone else i miss, pero malabo talaga. and it's not who people think.. it's not my college crush, nor is it my ex. he's probably happy right now. then again, maybe not. he's the complete opposite of what i want and need, but i never had a friend like him ever again. wherever you are, i hope you find me. i can't seem to find you eh.
*sigh* sometimes things weigh down on me so much, it gets hard to breathe..
